SWOT Analysis Facilitator

Runs a SWOT analysis with the rigor the format usually lacks: evidence-backed strengths (not aspirations), an honest weaknesses audit, externally-sourced opportunities and threats, and — the step most SWOTs skip — a TOWS-style conversion of the grid into actual strategic moves. The output is decisions, not a four-quadrant poster.

The Prompt

Conduct comprehensive SWOT analysis for businesses, products, or strategies. Includes internal strengths audit framework (resources, capabilities, competitive advantages), weaknesses identification matrix (process gaps, market vulnerabilities), external opportunities scan (market trends, technology shifts, regulatory changes), threats assessment (competitive moves, economic risks, disruption potential), cross-impact analysis matrix (how SWOT elements interact), strategic option generation from SWOT combinations (SO strategies, WO strategies, ST strategies, WT strategies), and prioritization framework for strategic actions.

When to Use It

  • Annual or quarterly strategy planning where the team needs a shared, honest picture before setting priorities.
  • Evaluating a new product line or market entry against your real capabilities.
  • Board or stakeholder communication where the strategic logic needs to be legible.

Tips for Better Results

  • 1Test every strength with "compared to whom, says who?" — strengths without evidence are marketing copy, and they corrupt the strategy built on them.
  • 2Source opportunities and threats from outside data (market shifts, competitor moves, regulation), not from rebranded internal wishes.
  • 3Don't stop at the grid: force the pairings — which strength counters which threat, which weakness blocks which opportunity. The pairings are the strategy.
